This looks more like a DNS issue. Is your SMTP service up and running in
the Cobalt admin GUI now? If you can send mail through the webmail on
that machine, then I doubt there is anything wrong with SMTP. A DNS
problem on the other hand would justify both issues, the above error and
not being able to send off the machine. Try pinging earthlink.net from
the server command line. Host unknown almost always indicates a problem
with DNS. It may not be your problem, if everything checks out, take a
look at what DNS servers your server is using and verify they are
working properly. A good outside set of DNS testing tools are at
www.dnsstuff.com.
