server went down.
I guess it would be the log you mentioned /var/log/httpd I have the
time it went off looking for a common error

Are you sure the system is going down and that you are not just loosing a
connection to it. There have been stories here on the list about certain
routers dropping connections.
Is the computer in your possession or is it at a colocation facility?
