One program I need, needs a slightly newer version of Perl than comes
on a stock 550. From my xtr experiences I know that updating Perl can
cause problems. I thought that the 550 was just using a newer version
of perl but when I query the version and path I see that the old one
is still there:
Compiled at Mar 21 2001 01:18:47
@INC:
/usr/lib/perl5/5.6.0/i386-linux
/usr/lib/perl5/5.6.0
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.0/i386-linux
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.0
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.005/i386-linux
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.005
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl
I haven't quite gone past the point where restarting from scratch
ceases to be an option in configuring this, but am I still restricted
in updating Perl on a 550? Can I update to 5.8?
