Take it out, remove the heat sink, clean the heat compound off and look at the letters on the top of the cpu.
I would be willing to bet that it's a 2.2V cpu - I think all of them are, but you need to check your own.
Why wouldn't you drop in a 500Mhz if you're replacing it?
