I did edit the file with VI

And issued the Delete command as follows

70 dd
Then did a :wq ENTER

Then I ran this "makemap hash /etc/mail/virtusertable.db <
/etc/mail/virtusertable"

And actually now that I look at it, it now has 71 corrupted lines instead of
70... And yes the file looks the same and I was logged in as r00t when I did
this.

you should be able to run makemap without errors,
did you ever edit virtusertable, with an editor other than vi? like maybe
pico with lie wrap?

Well, how many errors did you get this time, and were they the same? Does
the file look the same?
