+Yes, seperate cables and master - both were "found" on boot when

First thing I do when I start having 'issues' with an OS reload is to
'reset' the CMOS by holding down the 'e' button during boot until it gives
you the message that the CMOS has been reset then power down, don't let go
of the 'e' button until it's powered down. Then reboot and try to load your
OS again.
