Just got a weekly blurb for iForce partners from Sun (my new company is
such a partner), and there's a couple of paragraphs about the Qube being
"transitioned" and that people should switch to RaQ 550 or LX50. Here's
info on support for the Qube though:
"The Sun Cobalt Qube(tm) 3+ server appliance will be transitioned off the
Sun price list. The recommended product for customers to switch to is the
Sun Cobalt RaQ 550 server appliance or the Sun(tm) LX50 server. Customers
using the Sun Cobalt Qube 3+ server appliance software functionality could
consider the Sun(tm) Open Net Environment (Sun ONE) software suite.
Sun will maintain hardware support for the Sun Cobalt Qube 3+ server
appliance for five years subsequent to the last shipment date. Per Sun's
standard customer support policy, Sun will repair the unit for the cost of
time and materials as per standard Sun terms and conditions. Sun will
support the Sun Cobalt Qube 3+ server appliance software for three years
from last shipment date in compliance with Sun's standard software support
policy."
Also "interesting" is a list of "new features" that the RaQ 550 has over
the Qube 3, including BlueLinQ, telnet access, and Legato Networker/Arkeia
Backup support... ;)
