If you want to relay mail, you either run pop before SMTP or you put
your IP in the allowed relay field in the control panel. The "check mail
first" error is because POP before SMTP is turned off. I think there's a
bug that's been discussed so that once it is turned on and then off,
that is the error instead of just relaying denied.
