D'OH - I should have remebered this from when XP was first launched!
No sooner sent than realised the problem... So for all of you POP3ers
out there using Outlook 2002, and I stress Outlook 2002, there is a
_bug/feature_ in Outlook that will cause it to pop this authentication
problem if it attempts to connect to the same mail box simultaneously in
two different threads.
The reason that this only effect O-2002 is that it is only in this
version that MS have tried to improve performance and parallelise the
processing of multiple mail accounts. In previous versions all mail
account porcessing was done synchronously and this did not occur.
...and yes, if you have read this far, then you will have realised that
I had mistakenly used the same userid in two different POP3 accounts...
And this is where I must say that ENSIM does it better. User names on
the Raq must be unique across all domains. ENSIM appends #<domain.name>
to all user names so that they ARE unique...
