Hi,
I noticed that when setup as PDC our Cobalt Cube 3,
has in the samba configuration file /etc/samba/smb.conf a parameter "os
level"=1.
In the docs I found about samba configuration as PDC
it is not very clear how to pick up the value for "os level" parameter.
It must be greater than 33 as I understand and in some docs
(BROWSING.txt smaba docs) they recomend 65 in order to
force samba to be the master browser.
But I couldn't find any explanation why I should pick up exactly 65.
Windows systems use the following OS Type values (samba's "os level")
(correct me if I'm wrong:)
Operating System OS
level
=============================================
Windows 95 /98/ME 1
Windows NT Workstation 16
Windows NT Server, as member server 16
Windows 2K Professional 16
Windows 2K Advanced Server, as member server 16
Windows NT Server, as PDC 32
Windows 2K Advanced Server, as NT-PDC 32
-------------------------------------------------------------
So, why don't we just use 255?
And make sure samba will win Master browser election every time!
And the my question here is why on the Cobalt Cube 3 working as PDC
the parameter "os level" is set to 1?
Is there any particular reason?
There is no way provided by Cobalt Cube 3 GUI to change this, right?
Thank you for the help in advance!
Milen
