Hello,
I am trying to OS restore to a RaQ2 from a CD - however when done, I
cannot ping the machine or interact with the GUI, or login as su. I
have performed this task on RaQ4's before, with no problem, but this
RaQ2 has me confused. I have trawled the list archives for days but not
found an answer to the problem.
Here is the synopsis so far:
All appeared to go OK with the OS restore, from a recently purchased
Cobalt CD, and the eventual message to power off appeared. Powered on,
set the ip as 212.30.13.183, with mask of 255.255.255.224, gateway of
212.30.13.161. All appears OK but cannot ping the RaQ2 or interact with
the GUI.
1) I have connected a terminal to the RaQ2 console port and can log in
as admin, specifying a password - yet this password does not then let
me login as root.
2) Have looked at the network config files, and from my limited
experience all seems ok and as set-up via the lcd.
3) I have looked at the output from /sbin/ifconfig and /sbin/route -n;
and all appears correct
3) I have now performed the restore 3 times, and each time I get the
same result - no root access and cannot ping either into or out of the
RaQ2 .
4) I have done the paperclip password reset, verified cables and switch
ports etc.
5) My only access is from the lcd panel or to login as admin on the
console.
Can anyone please suggest what I might try next? I have physical access
to the machine.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Simon
