Did you delete the index.html file?  Apache looks for index.html before
index.asp, so if both are present, it will send index.html as default
page.

If you've deleted index.html, and still seeing it, your browser or a
proxy is caching it.  There's no way for the server to send out that
page if it doesn't exist.
