I received the following the last couple times the blue box has been
rebooted:
>> Feb 24 19:15:52 aegis kernel: portmap: RPC call returned error 111
>> Feb 24 19:15:52 aegis kernel: RPC: task of released request still queued!
>> Feb 24 19:15:52 aegis kernel: RPC: (task is on xprt_pending)
>> Feb 24 19:15:52 aegis kernel: portmap: RPC call returned error 111
>> Feb 24 19:15:52 aegis kernel: RPC: task of released request still queued!
>> Feb 24 19:15:52 aegis kernel: RPC: (task is on xprt_pending)
>> Feb 24 19:15:52 aegis kernel: lockd_up: makesock failed, error=-111
>> Feb 24 19:15:52 aegis kernel: portmap: RPC call returned error 111
>> Feb 24 19:15:52 aegis kernel: RPC: task of released request still queued!
>> Feb 24 19:15:52 aegis kernel: RPC: (task is on xprt_pending)
I reviewed the archives, in which Gerald Waugh suggested:
>> chkconfig --list
>> then turn off the stuff you are not using.
I have distilled the output to these few items which I suspect I need, but
am not sure...
Can anyone shed some light on whether these are needed to support the OS or
another portion of the box or another service?
nfslock: (nfs is off) this is 'on' in 345
portmap: all off, but looks like source of errors?
bwmgmt: 'on' in level 3 & 5, I don't use it on any sites
network: sounds important; on in 235
nfsfs: 'on' in 3 & 5; see above for nfs and nfslock
storage: sounds important; on in 235
lcdsleep.init: on in 3; updated LCD on front? Needed?
syslog.master: 'off' in all; sounds like it should be on?
bwmgmt.init: 'off' in all; needed for bwmgmt? Should be on?
cobalt_restore: 'on' in 2345
cobalt-networker: 'on' only in 2
Box runs dns/smtp/pop3/httpd/gui with
self-signed/ssh/mysql/ipchains/postgresql
NO ftp/imap/asp
