1. Look in /var/lib/cobalt for a *.md5sum file that corresponds to the
package you're trying to install. That's how the PKG installer
"knows" what you have. Although if that file does exist, it _should_
show up on the list of installed software...
2. Look in /var/cobalt/adm.log and /var/cobalt/sauce.log for messages
written during install, etc.
3. 1 and 2 are just the start... :)

You _can_ open up the PKG (it's just a .tar.gz file renamed), and look
at the installation script to see what it does. If it's just some
RPMS, you can manually install those, etc.
Not advisable, though, as other PKGs might have this one as a prereq
someday, and if that 'marker file' isn't in /var/lib/cobalt, it won't
know it's really there.
