OK, I'm sorry but I've been sending messages to this subject and not
seeing them. If others have replied since earlier this morning I haven't
seen it. I quit getting messages for most of the afternoon and am
getting them again now.
But to recap:
raq4r behind firewall. Raq is named www.nomecity.org, which that domain
name is registered on register.com and is using their dns servers. I
have created another site called www.nomealaska.org upon which I want to
use as web and email server, also registered at register.com and both
sites pointing to same IP no.
A records at register.com:
nomealaska.org => 24.237.254.24
www.nomealaska.org => 24.237.254.24
MX record:
nomealaska.org Hi priority nomealaska.org
I have to trust that they do automatic reverse mapping for the A records
because I don't see that option on their site. When creating A records,
it is just domain name points to IP address.
We have internet connectivity through GCI, so in Control Panel, Email
parameters, I have smart relay set for smtp.gci.net. I have nothing in
the Relay for hosts/domains and nothing in the Host/domain Aliases. I do
have POP b4 relay checked.
On SiteSettings for nomealaska.org, I have
www = hostname
nomealaska.org = domain name
nomealaska.org = web server alias
nomealaska.org = email alias
I have set up users with a username say s-crowe and email aliases of
sarah_crowe, etc.
I can send with these accounts, but not receive. I get reject:550 relay
denied for sarah_crowe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I've been reading up on sendmail and did the following:
sendmail -bt
/map virtuser sarah_crowe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
and it returns no match.
/map virtuser sarah_crowe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
and it returns s-crowe (0).
I also tried
sendmail -bt -C sendmail.cf
/tryflags hs
nothing...
/try esmtp sarah-crowe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
and it seemed to be fine.. returning sarah-crowe < @ nomealaska . org . >
on the tests it runs through.
I don't know if this helps.
I also added a relay-hosts file (or whatever it is, I forget), added
www.nomealaska.org to that file, restarted sendmail just to see what
would happen. When I sent a test message, it seemed to go into a loop
(watching maillog) with it saying things like (Message received:
H9GBR001.3AK) over and over again. But never showed up in the accounts.
I then deleted the file and restarted sendmail.
So I'm stuck.
