[cobalt-users] Qube3: Sendmail Error: collect: premature EOM

We are currently experiencing inbound SMTP errors from a particular site
that show up in our maillog:
Jan 14 06:51:37 mail sendmail[1731]: h0EBfaa01731: collect: premature EOM:
Error 0
Jan 14 06:51:37 mail sendmail[1731]: h0EBfaa01731: collect: unexpected
close on connection from [206.112.71.232], sender=<info@xxxxxxxx>: Error 0
Jan 14 06:51:37 mail sendmail[1731]: h0EBfaa01731: from=<info@xxxxxxxx>,
size=1147, class=0, nrcpts=1, proto=ESMTP, daemon=MTA,
relay=[206.112.71.232]
sendmail sub-processes (created to handle the inbound message) seem to hang
around increasing the load on the qube3. They are in pairs and eventually
sendmail times out and puts the above messages in the maillog file. For
example (at this moment I have 51 of these but I'll include just a sample):

The only message in the archives I can find even remotely related to this
was the post from Phil Lewis on Fri, 11 Oct 2002 16:12:49 -0700 that talked
aboult a problem on the client end with Office XP sp2 and wordmail being
identified as a problem. I will pursue this in case it is related but I'm
wondering if anyone else has seen this particular problem in their maillog
and if they can offer any advice.
I think it is a misconfiguration issue at the other end but I can't prove
it.
Any further troubleshooting tips that you could recommend?
thanks in advance
Peter
