Re: [cobalt-users] [RaQ4r] Maximal temperature?

Speaking in general terms, The CPU temperature will cause problems in two
ways:

1. You will probably get errors as the chip itself approaches 90 degrees C.
The temperature measured by an enternal sensor will always show less than
the temperature of the CPU core.
2. There is a thing called CMOS lockdown which happens when certain
electronic changes occur within the semiconductor wafer. This is partly why
chips are sometimes said to have a maximum lifetime, since the heat
generated in normal operation will eventually cause lockdown over enough of
the wafer to render the chip useless. CMOS lockdown is th esingle biggest
reason you really don't want ot run your chips too hot, particularly for any
length of time!

Cheers

AJP.
