I've just spent some time on the telephone with Ensim.

The problem I've always had with them is it's totally impossible to get
past the "salesrep" level. The salesreps think they know everything,
and that they're the gatekeeper. The lady I spoke with today has
assured me she'll give me a call back.

Her response was yes, you have to "blow off" the operating system (her
words) and install RedHat 7.2. We all know that's not just a piece of
cake, but we're working on that too.

We're also still trying to talk to someone inside of Ensim who can give
us information on Kernel requirements, etc., usw. It's fairly easy for
us to build a Linux system that'll work on the RaQ (using the rom-based
kernel) and "look like" RH7.2. But we don't have any idea to what
extent it'll work. Nor do we know if that kernel can load modules by
default.

We don't know how to set up a 2.4 kernel on the hard disk so the RaQ
will find it, and we do know the ROM has to be upgraded to use a 2.4
kernel. We don't know if Ensim will work with a 2.2 kernel (RHL7.2 has
a 2.4 kernel).

So I'll also be wanting to speak with some Sun Cobalt Developers, as
well as someone inside of Ensim. I've got the Sun Cobalt contacts; does
anyone have a contact at Ensim besides a salesrep?

I think there's going to be a lot of interest, if we can pull it off
<smile>. What do you think?
