Are both drives spinning up properly? Proper IDE cable for both
drives? 5400 RPM ATA-33 drives (not 7200 RPM or higher - too much
power draw)?
Is the 2nd drive something that was previously used/partitioned?
Sometimes a previously RAIDed drive won't format / re-partition
properly; safest to use a "clean" drive.
Have you connected a null modem cable to the serial port (at 115200
N-8-1) to see what's happening?
