[cobalt-users] ROM upgrade PKGs for RaQ 3 and RaQ 4

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1

I have created some RaQ 3/RaQ 4 PKGs which _should_ install various
ROM versions for you via the UI.

These are based on two PKGs I got while at Cobalt, from one of the
engineers. I used it to upgrade the ROM on my RaQ 4 with no issues
or problems... the original files are ROM v2.3.34-2 and v2.3.38-1.
The ones I've created (so far) are 2.3.35-1 and 2.9.34-1.

I don't know what the differences between each version are. I
personally run 2.3.38 on my own RaQ 4.

Installation information is logged to /var/cobalt/adm.log. Until you
OSRestore the RaQ, the ROM version will appear in the list of
installed PKGs. Next time you rebuild the box, the ROM version will
stick, but won't be in the installed software list...

As root, do "cmos -c romrev" to get your current ROM version info.

The original ROM is backed up first, to rom-orig-v.er.sion.img via
flashtool, or you can do it manually with:

flashtool -r > rom-orig-`cmos -c romrev`.img

(assuming, of course, you installed 'flashtool' from
ftp://ftp-eng.cobalt.com/pub/users/thockin/2.4/ )

The raw .img files that are inside these PKGs are available for
download separately as well, if you want to do things by hand, or if
you want to try installing them on a Qube 3 (I have not rolled a Qube
PKG for any of these).

THESE ARE COMPLETELY UNSUPPORTED AND UNTESTED.

I made the PKGs as a service to others, based on something that has
worked for me. But PLEASE USE ALL APPROPRIATE CAUTIONS.

USING THESE MAY KILL YOUR RAQ.

Do NOT use on anything besides a RaQ 3 or a RaQ 4!!
