My problem with /var getting full is resolved.
I located a mail spool file that was not aliased to /home, though all others
were. This user mail acct was very full and had incorrect permissions, owner
and group. Once I corrected the permissions/owner, I linked it to the spool
in /home and all became right again. Here are the results of df command
Filesystem 1k-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda1 746418 607592 138826 81% /
/dev/hda3 202188 23854 178334 12% /var
/dev/hda4 17660946 2396036 15264910 14% /home
Thanks
Tom
PS--Do I need to worry about /dev/hda1 being at 81% ?
