I agree, but I like separate backups; I think they give you more restore
options, especially if you've unknowingly copied over a hack or failure.
And even if I felt comfortable with it I'd have to wonder just what
rsync would copy from a tarred cmu directory structure? My guess is
that because of directory dates, mail, etc., the file would have an
awful lot of changes; I'm not sure how much would be saved.
