It's not 100% reliable, but I'd qualify my experience with it as "fairly

I've had better experience going from a 3 => 3/4 and 4 => 4.

The RaQ550 cmuExport cannot export to any RaQ, including the 550. So you
can import from ealier generation RaQs to a 550, but not a 550 to *anything*
using cmuExport, at least as of a few weeks ago, based on my own experience
and feedback from one or more Sun employees.
