I *think* this might be because you applied the update via the GUI, which on
the test-box i've tried and always fails in one way or another with the
update.
wget the file, and then use cobalt_upgrade via ssh to install it, on the
vanilla box here I tried it and all went fine after reboot, apart from the
other error i've posted to the list.
For your box, if they can get in over serial, it might be worth trying to
re-apply the pkg, although unfortunately that might not work very easily :(
