I removed the old version, after backing up the data and before I
attempted the install. Indeed if I was lazy at least the old version
would have stayed in place. I should have been a little more
sophiticated, and checkout out how to use mysqldump to restore as well
as backup. Where does the existing data go when the old version is
removed anyhow? I am worried that the new kernel for the XTR somehow
hoses everything.
