It is funny. I have upgraded 3 RaQ 4r to the RaQ 550 Software, and NO
problems
at all.
This is how I did it:
Boot up the ISO found on ftp.cobalt.com/pub/iso/259-3894-11-RaQ550.iso.gz
Once that loaded (on my PC), I net booted my Cobalt RaQ4r, choose the RaQ4
option (2.9.34), it loaded the operating system, said "Power Down". I did
that.
rebooted it, so that it could do some more loading of features ... once that
was
done, I rebooted once more, changed it to "Boot from Disk" mode, and it
worked.
** Note ** I did this sometime ago, pretty much right after the ISO was
posted
to their site ... and I did not have any problems. I have been reading the
posts,
but, if they would follow the directions, it pretty much is quite simple. I
would do
my last RaQ4r, but I use it as a testing server for making packages and what
not.
What it probably is, that people get it stuck in the "Netbooting" option,
get scared,
try to downgrade the BIOS, and fail. Luckily some engineer at Cobalt
answered
my email, and told me to change it to Boot From Disk.
Just my little comments.
