YABB is written in Perl, and uses multiple flat files for it's database;
it can really drag a server down. We've got one instance of it running
on a RaQ3, and I wouldn't add more. If you read their own community
pages you'll see lots of people complaining about their hosting
companies forbidding it. Personally I prefer YABB SE from
"http://www.yabbse.org/". It's written in PHP and uses MySQL. It's a
lot more efficient, and it runs rings around the original.
