Seems to me that you either bite the bullet and pay for the thing, OR you
go to your users, who have to be tired of Virus junk and offer them a
"deal"....let them each pay a small part of bill.

But then again, I'm kinda nuts...I think users need to pay for service.


run mailscanner with the "virus scanner" parameter set to "none".

you still get the protection from "all known browser/Outlook* security flaws/tricks" (I think thats what the mailscanner docs said last time around) and you still get filtering for blatantly obvious things like .pif and .scr attachments for your users.

you get spamassasin for spam screening (set the spam detection to 9 for an ISP environment).

tweak the spam rejection message to be nice - its quite rude for customers.

I went from 60 spams a day to 1 or 2 and our customers love it.
