Hi,
I have read various posts here, and resources on the internet, and am
fairly(?) confident that I have set up my RaQ4 correctly - however I
cannot see one test site with the new nameservers.
In fact when I do a dig to ns0.firstdns.co.uk or ns1.firstdns.co.uk - it
fails to find the nameservers.
However if one does a dig to just firstdns.co.uk - it finds one server.
Does this mean that a) I have set it up wrong b) it has not yet
propagated c) my service provider has made a mistake setting the
nameservers up for me?
This originally started last Friday, when I asked for the two
nameservers to be set up (previously I have always used their
nameservers) - come Monday, it was still not live so I emailed them
back. On Wednesday they emailed back to say sorry, we had a problem, but
it should all be okay now(after propagation etc.)
If I look at /etc/named/pri.firstdns.co.uk I see
$TTL 3600
firstdns.co.uk. IN SOA ns0.firstdns.co.uk. ian.canvey.org.uk. (

www.firstdns.co.uk. in a 128.242.196.249
firstdns.co.uk. in mx 30 www.firstdns.co.uk.
/etc/names/records has

ns0.firstdns.co.uk:ns1.firstdns.co.uk:ianatcanvey.org.uk:10800:3600:6048
00:3600 -
Can anyone throw any light on where I have gone wrong.
Having always taken the easy approach, I am now trying to figure these
things out for myself....
Regards,
Ian
