Yes you are correct, while the server is unavailable the remote servers will
queue then deliver. Try it out, add yourself an alias, wait for failure then
mail youself!
BUT, i'd determine why the mail server is doing this, I've got a RaQ3i here
that has 31 uptime so far and runs quite a busy email/web service on it.
Have you checked /var/log/maillog before/after the problem to see whats wrong.
Can you ssh in while its down? Try telnetting to the server on port 25 and
see what error you get.
I'd seriously track this one down!!
