try running as root
updatedb

So far, everything I have tried
(/etc/cron.daily/slocate.cron and updatedb)
has been run as root with no success.
Any other ideas?

I've had slocate and the DB break on an old RedHat install.. come to think of it, 6.1 or 6.2. I think I tried removing the RPM and re-installing.

I'd request some comments from the group on this tactic before trying it, however!

Cheers,
Glenn
