OK, no, we do this all the time when working on servers.
You won't need masquerading
Just connect them together, with a cross over or with hub/switch
Use 192.168.1.0 Network
You don't really need a gateway,
if something complains about it just put in 192.168.1.1
Make your PC 192.168.1.2
Make the RaQ 192.168.1.1
