Hi..
That was an answer of question asked and not a Recommendation. I have more
than 20 domains since 3 years all with catch-alls and I never experinced any
spams related to that. Spammers need only to know one email address.
There are methods for blocking spams by entering email address, hostnames or
IP address of the spammers SMTP in your /etc/mail/access file. It is very
simple config. See the link below from SendMail:

I completely did away with mine as it causes an enormous amount of junk
mail. Anyone can send to anything at the domain and it will get through. Our
customers were getting 100+ junk mails a day. We eliminated the catch all
and the spam went down to an average of 3 or 4.
