This is a very valid question that I'd like an answer to as well... I think I distinctly remember
that I bought my cable exactly for the purpose of being able to "patch in" from the serial port.
When I went to the store, I'm pretty sure I specified this as a "crossover serial cable", yet
today when I looked closely at it, it is yellow, with the word "patch" clearly printed along the
length in many places.
So... is there a difference?
It seems to me, to answer Gerald W's orignal question above, that I >am< using a valid NIC and a
crossover cable that works, as it >does< contact the DHCP OS Restore server to start the restore
process. My logic is that this is true, because I see the process begin through my serial port
terminal, and it starts in on the RPM installs, but only gets to the sixth (NFS) install before
halting.
I'm thinking that the Restore CD that I burned is perhaps corrupt at that point on it...?
I may try downloading a new ISO from that other suggested site and trying that today.
Thanks for all the help all,
Theo
