RE: [cobalt-users] /var/run/named.pid - problem

I have just done a manual mail send ... see transcript below:

250 2.1.0 jcole@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sender ok
250 2.1.5 sales@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Recipient ok
354 Enter mail, end with "." on a line by itself
250 2.0.0 g9HCwOW07557 Message accepted for delivery

... now either I got your domain wrong, or it works fine.

The error from the log (SMTP error) ... was this during the
reception of the email in question 'sales@...' or the sending?

This is not when the client is collecting e-mail via POP, it is INCOMING
SMTP mail to the domain.
SMTP needs no authentication only collection via POP (and subsequent SMTP
sending) if POP before relay enabled.
We do not offer dial-up service so clients send outgoing e-mail through
thier own ISP SMTP server not ours.
We only store e-mail and offer collection via POP3.

It would be nice to be able to see the mail on the server but it is not
getting that far !!!
