[cobalt-users] help with server migration planning

Hi all,

I've got the unenviable task of migrating some RaQ4 boxes from one facility to another this weekend. Each of these is running it's own DNS, and hosting multiple sites.

My plan is listed below... there are a few missing elements, I'd appreciate any input to help fill in the blanks. :)

1) 24-48 hours before the move, change the TTL for all records on the nameserver to 0

2) power down the box and move it

3) power it up, change the network config as required for new netblock

4) edit /etc/named/records > globally search and replace all the old IP's with the new ones

5) run the GUI script to parse 'records' and create new zone files

6) search and replace IP's in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf

7) restart httpd

8) login to registrar control panel and change IP's listed for client nameserver(s).

9) DONE!

Questions:

a) I'm most concerned about step #6. This is obviously too simple... I know the virtual site IP info is in the PostgreSQL ... so where all does it reside, and how can I change it?

b) How do I change all of the TTL's globally?

c) Does any of this change for a RaQ550?

I'm sure more questions will pop up, but this should be good enough for round 1 ;)

Thank you all,

Brandon
