well

I'm the only with access to this server through SSH
telnet is disabled on our server: then I can tell you exactly what I did in
the last day
I tried to compile a perl module but I got errors.

First I tried to compile it in admin web directory.
Later I tried in /usr/lib/perl5/5.00503/ but got error again

I called the module with perl script and I got the first internal server
error

I'm not sure it's the problem but I know this is the last thing I did the
day before the mess

In fact after 6 hours we found out that another perl cgi was giving errors.
We tried to enter the GUI but the password was not accepted.

We rebooted using a SWITCH management but server never appeared again
online.
Our provider was able to reboot the server but now we can reach only by IP
and we enter the GUI, but it's full of internal server errors (i.e. no
virtual site list displayed and so on).

Please provide more details. What do you mean by "trying to
compile a perl module". Perl modules are not compiled, they
are installed, generally in source form in the perl libraries.

Exaccly what module were you "compiling"? What steps did you
follow while doing this? Did you remove any files or directories?

Your symptoms sound like the admin GUI interface or perhaps the
cobalt meta data base has been removed or corrupted. The various
symptoms and problems you are having appear to have no relationship
with installation of perl softwagenerally re.

What error messages do you get when you try to start the admserv
server?
