Hi All,
I have recently got a Cobalt RaQ 550. I used to have a RaQ4 which i
used for webhosting, and an email relay.
Scenario on a RaQ4 that i cant get to work on a RaQ 550
Head office has an Exchange 2000 Server. for headoffice.com i setup an
MX record that points all mail to the Cobalt RaQ. On the RaQ i set the
dns name of the Exchange 2000 Server at head office as the smart realy
host. I then allowed the RaQ of the IP and the various domain names as
valid relay hosts.
This meant that whenever my server at Head Office was down - mail just
queued up, and was delivered when it came back on line.
I know there are several ways to set this up - the main one being with 2
MX records with different priorities. The reason i wanted it setup like
this, was to ensure that the AntiVirus product on my RaQ scanned all
mail before it even arrived at the Head Office site - hence reducing the
risk of virus outbreaks etc.
On the RaQ550 however, if i set things up in exactly the same way, all i
get is either a "relay denied" message or an MX loop message.
Is there anything obvious i am doing wrong, or is there another way to
get the scenario described above to work?
Thanks in anticipation,
Bruce
