You're going to need another PC to complete the job & a crossover cable
(or two cables and a hub). My RaQs are very particular about the PC's
NIC being capable of 100BaseT.
1. Make sure the Cobalt is OFF!
2. Reboot the PC with the CD in the drive. It will boot into a Linux
shell designed for doing the install.
3. Read & Accept the user license.
4. When the instructions appear, scroll down to the area about the RaQ 4
and follow the directions.
It takes my machines about 20 minutes to install.
5. When the RaQ is done, it will reboot and the LCD will ask you some
questions (like what's my IP and Subnet mask) Enter them according to
your network specs.
6. After the RaQ finishes booting, reboot your PC (without the CD) and
use a browser to go to the IP you chose. Follow the on screen
instructions for setting passwords and such.
7. When it's done, go up to
http://sunsolve.sun.com/patches/cobalt/raq4.eng.html and download each
of the packages. Don't forget the order, you need to install them in the
reverse order that they are on the web page!
8. Upload them to the RaQ via FTP. Make sure the FTP folder is set to
/home/packages. (This does NOT work with M$ web folders, you're going to
need a real FTP program) I would try the first one just to make sure
this works first.
9. After uploading go back to the browser, enter your ipaddress and then
click on the link under RaQ Server Management. Enter your username and
password.
10. Select Maintenance from the Left menu and then Install Software from
the options across the top. You'll have a list under Loaded Packages
that allows you to select the packages one by one and install them.
This can be a long process (an hour at my last count), but it works like
a charm.
