Yes it should be 'c' I originaly used of=/dev/hdb then thought that you are probably going to use the 2nd ide controller and your extra drive will be a master and that would make it hdc, but I forgot to change the 'a' to 'b' If the extra drive is on the same ide cable as your 'a' drive (slave) then it would be /dev/hdb As long as the if=/dev/hda you won't 'screw' anything up.
Awesome Gerald, like usual your assistance to me and many others on this list is extremely helpful. I'm sure there are others following this thread wanting to do the same thing!!!
One last (hopefully) question: if the "a" drive craps out, can I just put this other drive as the primary on the primary cable, boot up and run?? Any problem areas? Since it is a mirror, I assume it should think it is the primary anyway? Any problems you see using this as an inexpensive backup (to a total crash) solution?
