Sure, apache doesn't care. It just needs to know where to point ppl for
files. If www.mydomain.com has DocumentRoot /home/sites/site6/web then set
the new subdomain virtual host container to the same thing.

Yes.
You'll need to wait for DNS to propagate or add the new subdomain to your
hosts file, so that you can test the new subdomain.
