There are no plans to move the Sun Cobalt appliances to Solaris for the
OS. Solaris-on-x86 is an option for the LX50 due to the requests of some
niche players that Sun wanted to support. That is why x86-Solaris will
only be supported on Sun hardware (LX50, etc).
There has been a lot of concern amongst the field personnel about the
x86-Solaris announcement being made at the same time as the LX50/Sun Linux
launchm, and that customers would see it as a mixed message/lack of support
for Linux, etc. Please be assured that is NOT the case - Sun Linux is not
going away at all, and is the "main" OS for the LX50 and our other General
Purpose Linux servers. x86-Solaris is just an option that those who want
can ask for.
Also, the LX50 is _not_ a "Sun Cobalt" server - it's the Sun(tm) LX50.
