Hey all...
Looks like I chose the wrong order to do things in, or something.... I think
I have a predicament and would like some advice....
Got a RaQ4r. Only recently have I started using MySQL, PHP and all that fun
stuff. I am using raqbackup.sh and noticed that the script wasn't dumping
the databases correctly. After some archive research, I see its because I
have v. 3.22.32-1 of MySQL installed which doesn't support the -a (dump all
dbases option). The solution is to upgrade.. Never did before as I didn't
understand it and didn't need it at the time. So, off to pkgmaster.com...
BUT....
A couple of months ago, Chilisoft came out with some security issues. There
was also that OS update issue floating around. As I don't even use ASP, I
waited to update Chilisoft or do much of anything other than the basic Sun
updates. A while later I saw in the Sun KBase though that the latest C!Soft
update fixes the OS2 issues, so I went and got the latest Chilisoft update -
3.6.2. That way I wouldn't encounter the problem later.
So, here I sit with everything current except MySQL and no easy (ie. pkgs)
option to move forward with, as the pkgmaster MySQL updates don't appear to
play nice with the newer Chilisoft stuff.... So - any ideas how to update
MySQL without trashing my server or exposing myself to the ChiliSoft
security issues? I figure some client will eventually want to use ASP and
then I will have to turn it on. For that matter, any idea if uninstalling
the CSoft 3.6.2 will blow the machine up?
At the moment I am thinking I should just sit tight and do nothing as I only
have a few databases which I could backup manually. That way I could wait
for a pkgmaster update for MySQL that plays nice with ChiliSoft ASP.... Any
ideas/suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks.
Rick
