What Tim said for the step-by-step. Apologies for hashing this out in what is probably painful detail for most, but in the name of understanding what' s going on... your Qube2 has two IP addresses. One is its "real" IP for the internet (also called WAN, the Wide Area Network), which it gets from your ISP. The other one is a subnet address, which is its address on the little mini-IP-net you've set up with your hub/router, Qube and PC (the LAN, Local Area Network). If you try to connect to the WAN address from your PC, your PC tries to connect to the internet via AOL because that's the route it knows. If your PC is set up to get its IP information from the LAN, and uses the LAN address to connect to the Qube, it won't go out to the internet first.

And if you follow Tim's step-by-step, it should work that way.
