Not familiar with Qube2's, but I've a Qube3 at home and the initial 
setup goes like this:

Hook Qube and PC to a hub / switch or use a crossover cable.

Power up PC.  Set PC to DCHP.  Reboot if necessary.

Power up Qube.  Look at IP address shown on the LCD on back.

Point browser on PC at Qube's IP address.  

Using, Web-based Management console, turn on telnet access.

Connect Qube to Internet (hook WAN router to hub).

Telnet from PC to Qube.  Download OpenSSH.  Install.  Test

In Web-based Management console, turn off telent.
