Hi Yah,
At 1.35am this morning the server died on us, it stopped serving email,
http, ftp etcetera
By the time we'd been notified a couple of hours had gone by - couldn't get
in via SSH so resorted to the remote reboot switch within 5 minutes we were
up and running again.
The servers been patched to the max with all the latest and greatest except
the patch for the latest SSL vulnerability.
When I checked all the logs I noticed that the server was still running
because active monitor was still generating it's 15 min checks and even
mailscanner switched itself down and restarted. Yet nothing else running?
Went through all the logs and nothing obvious standing out - it just died
:( When all the queued up mail started to filter through the logcheck
reports showed exactly the same as the server logs, active monitor was
working fine every 15 mins and nothing else was.
Anyone got any clue as to why it would have died on us, server is a RaQ3i
Regards
Chae
