[cobalt-users] bind 8.3.3 and raqware instructions

Hi all,

I am trying to follow the instructions for installing bind 8.3.3 on one of 
our raq 4's and I am getting error msgs. Our current version of bind is 
bind-8.2.3-C1.

I follow the instructions found here:

Get to this line:
ndc stop

and it throws this error at me:
ndc: error: cannot connect to command channel (/var/run/ndc)

i have tried /var/run/ndc stop:
sh: /var/run/ndc: No such file or directory

Im a bit stuck! It mentions that there may be problems installing on a raq 2 
but and gives a patch to install.
bind832-redhat52.patch
Im *assuming* this is for a redhat 5.2 kernel and therefore no good for our 
raq 4?

Can anyone offer me any suggestions

Can anyone tell me how to find out what version of bind is running on the 
server. I have looked on the net but cant find any answers that I 
understand. ( dig command?? )
