Sounds like you might have shorted something out..
We have Raq3i that we converted to a Raq4r using the same jumpered method
however
we used a 475 Mhz CPU. We decided to gamble a bit and the unit has been up
and
fully operational now for close to 4 months now. It shows the CPU running
at
500 MHz and we have seen no signs of trouble with it.
Sorry I can't be of more assistance..
Unless someone else gives you better guidance I would maybe suggest
contacting
Sun/Cobalt support but not mentioning the CPU swap.. and see what they say.
Jerry

Subject: [cobalt-users] RAQ3 500Mhz upgrade trick problem
I've come across a problem tonight. On the used RAQ3 I bought... it booted
fine a few times as-is. Then I went through the 500mhz trick (as previously
posted on this list). Using exact AMD 500mhz chip as specified (bought from
used computer store-untested).
I carefully followed wire-strand upgrade procedure.
Now..nothing shows on LCD (top line of lcd has black bars) and can't get a
boot. even after going back to original 300mhz chip (removing wire strand
upgrade first) and trying to go back to normal.
Anybody seen this before? Did I fry something?
Brian
