RE: [cobalt-users] how do you get a new member to upload without dnsresolved?



Hi Bruce

I know their is an extensive archive, jeso ever tried to access it from the
internet?? shocking

however this is a raq4 cobalt job hence my request no windows just would
like to know how one access it through a browser without the clients domaine
name yet resolved so they client can upload etc

To quote Dan et al., this has been discussed numerous times in the
archives.

Short answer: if you're on a Windows machine, edit your 'hosts' file and
enter the IP address and full domain name of your site in there. Windows
looks locally for the info before trying DNS resolution, and will find the
server that way.
