Well here is what I tried and it seemed to resolve the web server problem...
1.) Did a manual uninstall of Apache PKG and the Chilisoft related PKG's
2.) Rebooted the server
3.) FTP's with wget command to the /home/packages directory
4.) Did a manual install of the Apache PKG cobalt_upgrade.. etc..
5.) Rebooted server
6.) Teleneted in and checked services "ps -e" to see if web server was up.
Alternately you could simply open a browser and point it at one of your
sites
to see if it responds.
FYI - With our server I waited several minutes after the reboot to make sure
all the services had started prior to testing the web server.
Any way for us this worked but as I mentioned.. we now have a different
problem
that being the Chilisoft product doesn't work.. not a huge deal.
Fortunately
the bix we had this problem with wasn't in production just yet so we kind of
lucked out there. I decided it best to try the questionable Apache PKG
upgrade
on it before our production servers. Long and short of it is always
becareful
and or slow to implement on a production box same as with NT service packs.
Hope this helps..
?? Is sendmail still operational on your server? On ours only the web
server
service and chilisoft were affected. For us.. most of our virtual site
customers
wouldn't notice for days if their web site was down unless we told them.
But
if their email was down for even 2 minutes the phone would be ringing off
the hook.
Good luck,,
Jerry

Jerry,
Unfortunately, I can't get to the GUI so I can't see what is or isn't
enabled.
I wish I had some advice for you regarding Chilisoft, but I know practically
nothing about it. Although I am using ASP on some of my sites, I'm
switching over to PHP/MySQL.

You should see a symbol next to each virtual site listed in the server
management area on the server if I'm not mistaken and it's enabled. To
change settings for it you would go into the site admin for each site to
enable or delete certificates.
Hopefully someone more familiar than myself can assist you with the apache
issue... I'm still dealing with some of the fall out from the installation
of it myself.. so far my biggest problem is getting Chilisoft working
again.. it looks like it's a permissions issue but I'm hoping some one more
knowledgeable than myself will provide some insight.

Jerry,
I don't think I have SSL enabled. Is there a way to tell?
Here's another error message that I don't understand. The co-locator of my
RaQ4, RackShack.Net, says that my Apache binary has been broken and that I
should restore the system. This is a big operation that I would really like
to avoid. Any Thoughts.
[root bin]# pwd
/usr/bin
[root bin]# httpd
Segmentation fault
[root bin]#

Yeah..
A little different error from what I experienced. Have you tried disabling
SSL for any or all of your sites? Just a stab in the dark.. wish I had
better advice for you.

Jerry,
Thanks for your support. I'm not getting an error message when manually
restarting httpd. It appears as if it accepts the commands OK. When I try
./admserv restart, I get the following
[root httpd]# /etc/rc.d/init.d/admserv restart
Stopping admin web server:
Starting admin web server:
Invalid certificates for main site -- Not starting SSL
/usr/sbin/httpd.admsrv
Does anyone know what "Invalid certificates ... " means
Roger

If your lucky that will work..
What I found though is that even after doing a manual uninstall and then
trying the upgrade path that you may get the web server back up but you will
get a error when attempting the update that tells you the PKG is already
installed.
I originally started this Thread.. and while our server is back up.. it
trashed the Chilisoft installation and it now isn't functioning.
FYI - Someone else had mentioned and suggested tracking down the error
message when you attempt to manually restart/start the web server service.
Of course I didn't follow that advice and at this point wish I had since I
feel our Raq4r is now basically damaged goods.
FYI #2 - If I recall the error we saw when trying the manual restart of the
web server was related to a path/file missing related to Chilisoft.
Good luck..

Jonothon,
If I understand this correctly, I would FTP the file
(RaQ4-All-Security-2.0.1-15417.pkg) to /home/packages.
Then use the command /usr/local/sbin/cobalt_upgrade
RaQ4-All-Security-2.0.1-15417.pkg to re-install over the damaged version.
Is this right?
Roger

Importance: High
Sounds like a damaged PKG; try to re-install it if you can via the command
line.
